Meet the Sisters
Our mum was a terrible cook! So, I kind of took over the cooking. I remember following Delia Smith’s recipe books religiously and from there on I developed a passion for food, especially cakes and baking.
After graduating from university I worked in sales and marketing roles for a dairy company in Leeds. It was during my time there that I noticed an advert for the Tante Marie Culinary Academy and I knew it was something I just had to do! So I left my job, enrolled on their intensive Cordon Bleu course and trained how to be a chef. The best decision I ever made!
I have since worked as a Head Pastry Chef in London restaurants and also worked for Betty’s of Harrogate as a confectioner, finishing and decorating their cakes and patisserie.
Tarte and Berry has grown through my passion for baking using trusted, correct techniques. Teaming up with my sister Lucy and combining both skill sets has really allowed us to be creative with the brand!
I’ve been a chocoholic for as long as I can remember; demolishing every last piece of birthday or Christmas chocolate within hours of opening it! I have a real sweet tooth which my friends and family know all too well about. So you can imagine my delight when my sister Jane trained as a pastry chef and frequently asked me to be chief taste tester on many of her amazing creations!
My background is in marketing, PR and market research. I began my career following my degree from Leeds University and I have really enjoyed the last few years; meeting different people, learning about branding and new product development and understanding how the food retail environment works.
Working for a major retailer has made me more aware of how important good quality ingredients are in products and I gathered many ideas and concepts for the brand which we are implementing today. I am now so excited to use the skills I’ve learnt for the future of Tarte and Berry and work alongside my sister on something we feel so passionately about, treats and gifts!
We hope you enjoy your treats as much as we love baking them.
Loved ‘em, thank you ☺
